This documentary movie from 1955 enables us to see the process of the work as Picasso starts with a relatively simple painting and turns it to a masterpiece.

Thanks to the art corner for reminding me of this interesting movie and the wonder that I felt as I watched it.

I don't know anything about this particular painting, but the bull, the bullfight, and the minotaur (mythical half-man half-bull) were all recurring themes throughout Picasso's work. He often explored the ideas of man vs. beast, primal vs. civilized, violence, dominance, etc. As a Spaniard, the bull and the bullfight were part of his culture. I think that much of the time, he was exloring his own psyche and the dualities and contradictions that existed within him.

Although all the paintings done by Picasso for the film were said to have been destroyed, omor has it that the artist actually held on to them.

I took a look at the painting and it looks like a bull with a person laying over the bull. Now I don't know anything about this man's paintings but to me it depicts a bull fighter that lost
